Diane Ito

Growing up on a farm in Kamuela on the Big Island taught me many things: how to drive a tractor, the importance of cooperation and teamwork – essential when growing up with four brothers, and the value of a job well done.  After graduating from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, I entered the garment industry where I worked for 25 years in both Hawai’i and California. Throughout all of my professional and personal experiences I have found one motto particularly important to live by: PEOPLE FIRST. Earning my Realtor and CRS designations provided me with valuable knowledge and has proven essential in today’s real estate market. I joined Coldwell Banker in 2003.  At Coldwell Banker, I was invited into the International President’s Circle and was among the top 4% of all Coldwell Banker agents worldwide. During that time, I had also achieved the distinction of being named to NRT’s Top 1,000 Sales Associates during many quarters. This meant that I ranked among the top 2% in the company nationally. Currently as a Global Luxury agent with Coldwell Banker, I use my 15+ years of real estate expertise to continue to market to and attract qualified luxury buyers. I specialize in the Manoa area on Oahu and enjoy “Helping Hawaii families come home.” I take pride in marketing and present a home to show its true character; I particularly enjoy mid-century modern style homes and homes with architectural flair. In my free time I am active in several groups, particularly Docomomo, Friends of HiSAM, and my church. I am dedicated to providing real estate expertise with professionalism and integrity.  I view real estate as a team effort and partnership and look forward to working with you in the buying and selling process in the future. I am also a 5-time award winner of the Top 100 Agents in Hawaii by Hawaii Business Magazine.

Rumi Murakami

Created for those who love modern design, recognize quality workmanship and appreciate small-batch availability. At an early age, Rumi spent hours poring over her mother’s Bazaar magazines and recreating designs using makeshift patterns and an old Singer. Influenced deeply by her Japanese heritage and a childhood immersed in the creative counter-culture of Northern California’s Bay Area in the late 1970’s, Rumi’s design philosophy follows a tradition of handcrafting as opposed to high volume production. All patterns and samples are made by Rumi in her Kaka`ako studio. We believe in sustainable and ethical business practices. We believe in supporting other local artists, designers and makers. Fonts in Paradise

During a Hawaiian vacation in 2011, I began photographing 1960s apartment building signs in Waikiki. Many of these mid-century buildings had once been motels, with idyllic names and leisurely fonts designed to entice vacationing tourists.

Oceanside Manor. The Tradewinds. Tropic Surf.

These swanky typefaces were also used around Honolulu for restaurants, businesses, and local attractions. Some were torn down, some were painted over, but many of these signs still endure and beckon beneath palm trees and tropical sky.

Today, more than 50 years later, they recall for us the breezy optimism of post-war Hawaii. Their weathered letters linger on as loyal, noble monuments to the idea of paradise.
