This fast-paced virtual tour will visit three different areas of the United States to show how significant modern spaces of worship resulted from thoughtful collaborations within and outside of the Catholic Church. The speakers will explore the Church leaders, members of the clergy and religious orders, architects, and artists who created them; and highlight some of the unique artistic mediums and materials in postwar Catholic churches.

This is the final event in a week-long Festival of Modern Design organized by Providence Preservation Society. Programs during the week include lectures, panel conversations, walking tours, and special behind-the-scenes tours of modern furniture and design collections. 

This tour celebrates significant architect-designed and artist-endowed places of worship in the city of Claremont, California. 

Designed by Gordon Bunshaft and completed in 1963, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University is one of the largest libraries of its kind. This tour will offer an introduction to the building, and an overview of some of the collections held by the library.

2025 Tour Day brings Docomomo US/NoCa to the East Bay where we'll be doing a walking tour of five houses of worship just south of the UC Berkeley campus. 

This walking tour with Nevada preservation Foundation highlights the bold Modern churches that helped shape Las Vegas during its postwar boom.

Minoru Yamasaki, Detroit’s best-known midcentury architect, left his mark all over the city, including in Detroit’s Cultural Center. Learn how Yamasaki came to Wayne State University in the mid-1950s to extend and execute their master plan with new buildings, including four designed by Yamasaki, and the transition to a pedestrian-friendly campus, while helping to establish the College for Creative Studies' new 1950s campus.

Docomomo US/Oregon will host a guided tour of the Mount Angel Abbey Library, one of only two buildings in the United States designed by famed Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Completed in 1970, the library showcases Aalto's graceful modernism while complementing the surrounding monastery campus, much of which dates to the early twentieth century. 

This special tour invites members of the UMass community and the general public to see the campus not just as a collection of buildings, but as it is experienced by students. Our campus acts as a "living" sanctuary – a “third place” for students, offering essential support, belonging, and community.

Join the Schweikher House for a rare tour opportunity of Ed Dart's St. Procopius Abbey in Lisle, Illinois. Considered a master work, St. Procopius features Chicago common brick, stunning light play and thoughtful flow of movement through irregular and complex spaces. Designed in 1967 and completed in 1970, Dart's design remains a space of spiritual focus and liturgical action through movement.

This is a self-guided tour in connection to the Open House New York Festival: visitors can explore the space using our online guide or speaking with docents stationed throughout the building.
