Houston Mod has had an exciting fall season. Here's a recap of some recent events.

On Sunday 17 November 2019, several Houston Mod members joined Master Mod Thesalone Williams in celebration of her 100th birthday. For many years, Mrs. Williams worked with her husband, the late architect Allen R. Williams, Jr. Mr. Williams was a prolific architect known for his innovative houses, several of which utilized load bearing masonry walls and concrete roof structures. His surviving houses are among the favorites of local preservationists.

On 13 October 2019, as part of Docomomo US Tour Day, Houston Mod conducted a successful guided, walking tour through the campus of Texas Southern University. The tour featured several campus buildings by architect John S. Chase, FAIA. Mr. Chase was the first African-American to receive a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin, and was a founding member of the National Organization of Minority Architects. Following the walking tour, maps were provided for a self-guided driving tour of other prominent buildings through-out the Third Ward, including those designed by Mr. Chase.
