Docomomo US is proud to announce new leadership and members joining its Board of Directors, reflecting the organization’s continued commitment to excellence in modern architectural research, documentation, and advocacy.

Meredith Arms Bzdak has been named President. As an architectural historian and Partner at Mills + Schnoering Architects, Bzdak brings more than three decades of experience in architecture and historic preservation, along with a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and national leadership.

Todd Grover, FAIA, has been named President-Elect. A principal at MacDonald & Mack Architects, Grover brings extensive experience in historic research, documentation, and conservation, as well as a strong commitment to professional practice and education.

Docomomo US also welcomes the following new board members:

  • Joan M. Brierton, an architectural historian and preservation specialist with extensive experience across federal, nonprofit, and cultural institutions;
  • Anne Essner, a nonprofit leader and philanthropist with deep ties to midcentury modern preservation;
  • Belmont Freeman, FAIA, an architect, author, and educator with an international design practice;
  • David Preziosi, FAICP, a nationally recognized preservation advocate and executive director of the Texas Historical Foundation.
  • Astrid Walker-Stewart, an urban planner focused on housing, sustainability, and preservation in public-sector practice;
  • Michael de Lange, a longtime public-sector historic preservation, now practicing urban design and planning.
  • Ann Mullins, a landscape architect and former Aspen City Council member with long-standing leadership in environmental policy and historic preservation;
  •  Zoe Detweiler, an emerging professional whose work bridges landscape architecture, heritage conservation, and climate resilience.

Together, this expanded leadership strengthens Docomomo US’s ability to advance critical conversations around modern heritage and to support the preservation of significant twentieth-century architecture and landscapes.

We extend our sincere gratitude to outgoing board members Robert Meckfessel, Flora Chou, Brad White, and Docomomo US Founding President Theodore Prudon for their dedicated service and lasting contributions.
