Preservation Detroit and Docomomo US/Michigan are teaming up to showcase the history and architecture of Lafayette Park, the first urban renewal project in the nation to be designated as a National Historic Landmark. The Lafayette Park neighborhood is composed of a public park surrounded by various residential developments built between 1958 and 1967, including twenty-six residential buildings by renowned architect Mies van der Rohe - his only work in the state of Michigan and the largest collection of his buildings in the world. A Preservation Detroit guide will lead you on a 2-2.5 hour long tour of the of the historic district and into the homes of some it's residents.
