Site overview

The Granger House is a 1951 Modernist house and a 1938 International Style garage apartment both designed by Austin architect Charles Granger for himself and his family. Granger built the garage apartment after working in California for Richard Neutra in the late 1930s. Later, after graduating from Cranbrook in 1946 and working for Eliel Saarinen, Granger joined architect Arthur Fehr in Austin and built the main house among many other buildings in Central Texas.
