Rebecca Lo Presti is a recent graduate of Hofstra University, where she majored in History and minored in Art History and French. She wrote her undergraduate thesis on the development of plastic surgery during World War I, and still loves to study medical history in her spare time. Currently, Rebecca is serving at the Vermont Granite Museum as an AmeriCorps Stewards VISTA. In addition to accessioning and grant development, Rebecca is researching the Charterhouse of Transfiguration, a monastery in Vermont designed by modernist architect Victor Christ-Janer. The results of this research will be published in an upcoming Docomomo US Regional Spotlight on Vermont modernism. She will be applying to graduate programs in the fall for Historic Preservation to combine her love for old places with her passion for civic engagement.

Shannon Winterhalter is an emerging preservation professional based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Coming from a military family, Shannon grew up in a variety of built environments in the United States and overseas and has long been drawn to modern architecture and its preservation. Shannon earned her MHP in Historic Preservation (2017) and BA in History (2015) from the University of Georgia in Athens, where her Master’s thesis studies focused on the documentation of Modern Movement architecture in Ghana.

Shannon recently joined the team at MacRostie Historic Advisors as an Associate with their Chicago office preparing National Register Nominations for historic tax credit projects throughout the upper-Midwest. Prior to that, Shannon worked as an Architectural Historian with Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and as a tax credit project reviewer for the Historic Homes Tax Credit Program with the State Historic Preservation Office in Madison, Wisconsin.
