Docomomo US National Symposium
Minneapolis, Minnesota - June 4-7, 2015

The third annual Docomomo US National Symposium was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from June 4-7, 2015. The Modernism on the Prairie symposium hosted a multifaceted schedule of events including presentations by leading minds in the fields of architecture and preservation on the current issues facing modern architecture and cultural heritage preservation. Exclusive tours and networking events highlighted exceptional examples of modernism in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area as well as sites that are potentially endangered. One complete day of the Symposium was held at St. John’s University in Collegeville, where participants visited the Abbey and surrounding buildings, many designed by Marcel Breuer, to explore and learn about this highly significant site.

As the only national event working to explore and build consensus on the preservation of modern architecture, the symposium brought together world renowned designers, scholars, students and professionals from the state of Minnesota and from around the country.

A full archive of the 2015 Symposium is available on the Docomomo US/Minnesota chapter's website, including presentation videos, pdfs, tour routes, and more.
