Programs

Docomomo US and our chapters maintain a series of programs aimed to promote the mission of documenting and increasing the awareness of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement. From the publically-accessible Register of significant sites, to the annual Docomomo US Tour Day event, to educational and advocacy efforts across the country, Docomomo US is committed to developing its programs.

The Register

One of the first visual architecture databases, The Register features publically-accessible information on significant modern buildings and sites alongside historic photos and plans. With more than 150 entries from 34 states and territories, the Register is an excellent informational tool designed to amplify preservation initiatives; provide academic instruction; bring awareness to cultural tourism and modern resources.

Tour Day

Each fall, Docomomo US and its chapters host the Docomomo US Tour Day featuring events and tours of the modern movement in the United States. The event, which seeks to encourage a sense of regional and national pride in this legacy, serves as the largest national event of its kind. Along with regional chapters, Tour Day brings together organizations from around the country including: The LA Conservancy, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, the Society for Architectural Historians, Palm Springs Modernism Week, the New Haven Preservation Trust, Salt Lake City Modern, Modern Phoenix, and many more. Tour Day events are free in many locations or discounted for Docomomo US members. Click here to continue on to the Tour Day landing page.
