In a disheartening turn of events, Miami's preservation board voted 7-2 to not consider Kenneth Treister's Office in the Grove for historic designation. The majority of the board determined that the building was "not of exceptiontional significance."

The Dade Heritage Trust, who featured the building on its recent list of 11 most endangered historic sites in Miami, also removed their support of the designation.

This news came after the Florida chapter of Docomomo US strongly adovacted for the building's designation, preparing the official nomination and garnering over 500 signatures in support of the designation. Treister, who is 87, supported the efforts to designate the building. Docomomo US/Florida and Docomomo US will continue to monitor the building's status.
