On 5 December 2019, Houston Mod hosted its annual holiday party. This well-attended event was held on the campus of the Holly Hall Retirement Community, upon which is located the Dunbar Chambers Memorial Chapel.

This diminutive chapel was designed by MacKie & Kamrath, a prolific Houston architectural practice that employed Wright’s principles of organic architecture in their residential and ecclesiastical project. Until recently, the Chapel was largely unknown by the local preservation community. However, through the efforts of Houston Mod and Preservation Houston, and championed by Master Mod and Holly Hall Board President Diann Lewter, the chapel has been designated a City of Houston Landmark.

District K Houston City Council Member Martha Castex-Tatum was in attendance in honor of the Landmark designation. Holly Hall was presented with a Houston Mod Preservation Award, as were several other recipients.
