Atlanta Central Library threatened twice with demolition, now with insensitive intervention

Current renovation plans of Atlanta's Central library, that include drilling windows into the building's facade, are still on the drawing board despite push-back from community members during the public meeting held Tuesday night. Though the deteriorating interior needs a serious overhaul, the building is part of Atlanta’s architectural legacy and deserves to be preserved.

 

Docomomo US is partnering with our local chapter and colleagues in Atlanta and looking at a series of strategies to address the current design proposal.
