Hawai'i Capitol District

Image details

The capitol district tour provides a rare treat for symposium attendees to explore the most historic and iconic part of Honolulu. It harbors some of Hawaii’s most significant and cherished treasures – all within walking distance. The tour will also commemorate the 50th State Anniversary of the Hawaii State Capitol. Explore architectural regionalism at its finest with Hart Wood’s Board of Water Supply. See how the “masters of Hawaii” incorporated local building traditions and materials in many of their projects and their innovative ideas of blending Eastern and Western architectural forms in a conscious manner. Enchanted by Hawaii’s vivid beauty and its benevolent climate, exotic flora, and cosmopolitan culture, the architects sought to capture the aura of the Islands in their architectural designs.
